    The seed stalk will begin to bend over as the seeds ripen. If unsure  what a
ripe seed looks like, or catching them at the right time, place a small piece of
nylon stocking over the seed pod and tie off with a piece of thread. Seeds look
much like plump grains of rice. If you do not let the seeds dry out they can be
immediately planted and may germinate within a few weeks. The tiny pips will
winter over just fine in the ground or in pots outside.
    Seeds germinate readily when fresh. Not a difficult plant to play with.
