[SG] Hydrangeas

Hi Matt

I also grow the Var. Lacecap Hydrangea here in zone 6.5 in Gloucester
MA. It has bloomed 4 out of 5 years. It is next to a stone wall
south facing. I would grow it for its foliage anyway I think, as the
flowers almost make the plant look too busy in my eyes. The flowers
are always in the foliage. Gorgeous, but up against all that var. it
is a little much. Under the bush I have planted some hostas and then
what I think is a great compliment....the ground hugging herb, Winter
Savory. Beautiful tiny green leaves and it has white flowers in Oct.
here. Besides a great fragrance, it is used in eggs, salads etc.
The white and deep green look like against the hydrangea when broken
up with the greens of hostas.

Bobbie
