Re: [SG] Welcome

Dear Clyde,

Thanks for the warm welcome, and in Norwegian, too! We all learn the text of "Ja, vi elsker",
our national anthem, in school - but where did you pick it up? Your name sounds very
"all-American" to me - ! Still, a lot of people in Indiana have Norwegian ancestors...

Yes, my garden should be OK for shade plants, and I'm just delving into all the possibilities
that open up in that direction. Yesterday evening we cut down an ancient, half-dead,
fungus-ridden plum tree which we'd been considering what to do with all summer - that
should bring some more light to the south-facing side of the house. I'd like to grow roses
there, come next summer.
I've been looking at your American climate zones, trying to make sense of them; it would
seem I'm somewhere around your zone 5-6, though in a coastal climate here in Oslo. We're
just on the margin for growing English ivy, I'm trying it out now. (Also a nice shade plant!)

I'm looking forward to learning more about how to make the most out of my garden.
