I must have missed the first question about how late in the year one can
fertilize these two plants. I have seen the answers, directed to lower
zones than I am at. I live in Zone 7, and a nurseryman recently told me
I could fertilize until the beginning of October. I questioned him
about it, since that seems a bit late to me. (I live in a yellow pine
belt of the Sierra Nevadas at 3000' and he may not have known how high I
am. The soil here really needs supplements, but I wonder if he wasnt
over stating the safe time period.) I did my last all round fertilizing
the beginning of July. Is there a time period until first frost, which
I should be looking at? Maybe I could figure it that way.
