It's an old timey vegetable plant. It's also called Mountain Spinach and
other things. To say it self-seeds freely is an understatement. The red
orach grows to about 3 and a half feet here in sw Idaho, the green grows to
over 6 feet tall. The red is very attractive, would even look good in a
flower garden. Some use the leaves fresh to dress up salads, etc. I'm not
growing it right now because we have a leaf miner problem that is
diminishing, thanks to tiny beneficial wasps.I'll grow it again, preferably
undisturbed by leaf miners. Margaret L
