Why are farmers singled out for welfare?

Here in the New Orleans area we have shrimpers that go broke because they
had a bad season, and can't pay the notes on there boats - among other
things. Why don't they get subsidized? Would anyone like to make a guess as
to how many conglomerates own , and operate farms - they get low cost
disaster loans too.

There are real poor farmers out there, but when's the last time you saw one?
Have you all seen some of the goings on about subsidized farming on the
20/20 type programs - rotten to the core. Take care of your buddy is the
motto - with graft and campaign contributions.

How about chicken farms - are they subsidized also when the heat, or a virus
kills millions of chickens. We could go on and on about subsidizing
industries. What about the steel industry a while back when all the plants
were closing, and thousands of people lost their jobs. Finally - has anyone
ever heard of crop insurance?

I say if any industry can't stand losing for one or two bad years - they
shouldn't be in business. Let the farmers suffer like the other industries
during bad times that's the way a market economy is supposed to operate, or
subsidize them all equally.

It's about time we ended this practice that's been held over since the
twenties. Don't worry you won't starve - we have years of grain stocked up
in silos. for the bad times. We also get a lot of produce from Mexico, and
during the USA off season, we get produce from South America.

Sorry - I know that I am off subject - but it just get's my Gaul. Cajun Joe
