I'm thinking of a different species. I had Musa basjoo (I bought mine from
Plant Delights), and it died before winter set in. I was going to try some
heroic measures to see if I could get it to live through the winter, but
the first time we had a frost it blackened and eventually died, because I
didn't know enough to prune off the black parts. Well, it probably would
have died anyway.
John Adney, you grew bananas in Iowa that you overwintered in your garage
in a dormant state, as I recall. These had edible bananas. Do you know
what species they were?
