Susan, I would be leery of any Lonicera japonica, whether species or CV.
It is a terrible weed in my yard and cannot be eradicated.
I have the straight species Lonicera heckrottii (there is a well known CV
called 'Goldflame' but it's not what I have). It is not at all invasive,
does well in part shade, and I find does have a bit of a fragrance that is
v. nice (depending on how acute your nose is). It is quite pretty. Not as
garish as 'Goldflame'. It blooms on and off all season.
