claire and all,
our steep ravines here (north georgia) were once filled with kalmia. only
those areas that could not be developed still have residents. while doing
plant rescues, digging old specimen for bonsai training, we have found they
bloom best in full sun.
these are containerized, and have been severely root pruned. even when
re-growing them in training beds, we find blooms are best in full sun. dont
know if this helps.
ours range from dull pink to very dark pink.
