Re: Kalmia


There is one more word on mountain laurels that should be added.  Deer will
eat these plants, they will destroy many years of Kalmia's very slow growth.
In Dr. Jaynes book he explains why Kalmia is poisonous to all domestic
grazing animals but is tolerated by deer.  My best old plant was eaten by
deer in a circle around the plant and disfigured about eight years ago.
Since then an electric fence has been installed and the laurel has filled in.
