Re: [PRIMROSES] New Name for List

from the electronic Encyclopedia (hope it helps the think tank)
primrose,
(prīm“roz“) name for the genus Primula of the family Primulaceae, low perennial herbs found on all continents. The family includes the primroses, cyclamens (genus Cyclamen), and pimpernels (genus Anagallis). Species of all these genera are cultivated as rock-garden, border, and pot plants. The primrose is a common and favored wildflower of England, and several species are indigenous to North America. The evening primrose is not a true primrose. Cyclamens are chiefly native to the Alps; C. indicum is a common florists' pot plant in the U.S. The scarlet pimpernel (A. arvensis), native to Eurasia but naturalized in the U.S., has flowers that close on the approach of bad weather.
