I was wondering why I signed up for a shade garden robin since I don't have
a lot of shade out here on the plains of Nebraska. But I love plants and
the few messages that I've read from the first day's postings shows me that
there are some very knowledgable people in this group. I'm always ready to
learn!
My name is Gail Korn and my perennials nursery, Garden Perennials, will
soon be starting its 16th year. I went nuts over daylilies and have 700
varieties. I said I would not do the same with hostas, and I haven't. But
darn, they keep creeping into my gardens! I've been hanging out in the
wrong gardens! I have only about 30 varieties so far and the recent
acquisitions are not listed in my catalog. I do ship and do have a catalog.
We do list lots of different kinds of perennials. Hosta nuts are not
likely to find hostas that they don't already have. I'm preparing the
bulk mailing of the 1998 version. If you are interested and will e-mail me
your snail mail address by Jan. 1, I'd be pleased to send you a copy.
I've been wanting to learn more about the corydalis. I do hope the new
name pseudo-something doesn't stick. I planted C. Blue Panda in spring of
1996 here in my Zone 4B garden. It grew, went dormant in summer, and died
over winter. I planted one good sized C. lutea in the spring of 1996, and
several seedlings. I think only a couple of these plants came through the
winter. Was the winter a fluke? Seedlings sprouted all over the place
this spring. What has the experience of others in my zone been with these?
