All true ... and just for the record all parts of the plant are poisonous.
Active ingredient colchicine -- an alkaloid used in modern anti-cancer
medications and historically as a treatment for gout. Donna. BC. Z6-8.

Colchicums are very easy. Plant bulb in the fall and forget 'em. The foliage
appears in the spring and then dies down and in the fall the flowers appear.
They are nice and really stand up. Have had some in for about 10 years
without
being touched and they perform yearly and have increased.
