If you Paul has a real live (he should have taken a photo) iris borer larva in
a peony patch. he has some astonishing information. As they are often planted
in the same borders I suppose this could happen. The iris borer is major
cause of failure with tall bearded irises on the east coast.
One final fact (well nearly a fact) is that iris borers stop at the
Mississippi River. They are not a pest west of there. This accounts for the
location of the large growers away from borer-land.
