Re: [SG] Shade Plant Pictures

Hello Lillian,
This will not help you right now, but.... I have been giving slide
presentations and lectures for about 4 or 5 years now. If you think you
will be doing this to any amount I would suggest you switch to slide film
for taking your photos. I use the old stand-by Kodachrome 64. It is the
most stable emulsion on the market. I order a packet of 20 rolls at a time
specifying the same processing number for all rolls. They are then kept in
the refrigerator and taken out one at a time until used. (Prints can be
easily made from slides if you need them.)
I use about 60 to 70 slides for each hour presentation. Try to hold it to
60 if you have anything to say. You can speed up or slow down the showing
of slides while watching the audience reaction and having a feel for if
they are bored or truly excited by a slide or plant presented.
The slide projector is usually there and set up for me when I arrive. All
I bring is the slide tray and the printouts for each member to follow the
slides and make tack marks for questions later. do not give them literature
of any other kind or they will be reading what you gave them rather than
listening to you and watching your slides. Overhead projectors are OK but
nothing of quality compared to a good selection of slides.
Patience is required as it takes years to build up a good library to
select a presentation from. That is one of the things you will be paid for
when lecturing.
I see where Clyde has made a most generous offer to share with you. Good
luck on the presentation.
