Hi George ...how's de weather down there on de Niagara Peninsula flatlands
& banks of Lake Ontario? U gettin hammered (snowtime?) tomarra!!! *just
kidding*
RE: Benzyladenine 10% solution (BAP-10) applications on Hostas:

Cholchicine Solutions -- to induce polyploiding. Ain't heard of anyone
dipping rhizomes into BAP.
Using BAP-10 WITHIN distilled water solution mixes (1000 ppm up to 3000
ppm) maybe even higher dosages (the exact formula is not exactly set yet?)
hosta growers & expeimentators are:
1).. spraying leaves of a given hosta plant.
2).. this manifests the bud/eye behind every leaf petiole, which is at the
point where leaf-stem meets the rhizome <-> bud/eye begins growing.
3).. in a short time, these new eye-shoots open up; and therefore, since
these are actual plants, then as soon as the eye's new leaves unfurl, this
provides for quicker propagation via division and/or bud-division propagation.
4).. experimentation is also going on, pertaining to spraying newly
started hosta seedlings; say at the fifth leaf stage; and with, similar new
eye-plant production results possible.
5).. the last couple of HOSTA Journals, coming down from the American Hosta
Society (AHS) had some articles on BAP10-trials with hostas. Perhaps the
AHS Website listed below, will provide you with more information:
The URL for the AHS Homepage is: www.hosta.org
hope this helps
