The soaker hose is a great idea. Doesn't look real great, but the first year
of one of my largest ornamental gardens (the one out front that everyone in
the subdivision expects you to have) had a horribly hot summer. I put soakers
everywhere and it really did the trick. Also, it was suggested that so rocks
be used around the fern to help keep the soil moist and cooler if necessary.
I love that idea as rocks are a favorite addition for me. I love to find
special ones as I travel and scatter them all around through my gardens. Much
more natural looking that way.
