I prune rhododendrons and camellias when they are in bloom, and give
giant bouquets away. They are sizeable enough for a church, or a
display near the entry of a flower show. Or as an
outside-the-front-door bouquet for a party. Just be sure to include a
big container, as few people have a vase big and sturdy enough. A
giant mayonnaise or pickle jar from a deli, preferably with some sand
or a few rocks in the bottom so it won't fall over, is ideal. (and
cheap)
It is a good time to prune, too, as new grow starts soon after flowering.
