Re: signs of life
Hello Susan,
I am outside taking advantage of this early spring weather doing my
cleanup in the lawn and garden. Walking through the garden was a very pleasant
experience yesterday. First of all the fragrance of the Chinese Witchhazel was
almost overpowering. This beauty has been in bloom for over a month now. Winter
Aconite are in full bloom and the iris reticulata are in bud along with the
daffodils. Omphalodes verna has one lonely, but lovely, blue bloom present. Jumbo
Crocus are beginning to open in one area. Hellebores are really getting into gear.
H. niger in full bloom in several locations, H. foetidus in full bloom in front of
the Arum italicum. H. odorus and purpurescens are unfurling from their dormancy.
My prize thus far is a new Hepatica planted last fall and the first bloom has
opened. H. asiatica var. japoinca is a lovely shade of sky blue with prominent.
violet-purple stamens.
Lets go gang! Yea gardening! etc. etc. etc.
