Re: florist cylcamen was: Primulas from the big box

In southeastern PA (Zone 6b) Cyclamen coum and C. hederfolium are thriving.
The
C. coum is blooming now. They have seeded in freely. The bed is southfacing
and slightly sloped so drains well. It is on the east side of the house where
it is sheltered from strong west wind and partially shaded from hot summer
sun. There is also a plant I bought as C. graecum succeeding in the same
area. The RHS dictionary indicates that this is a zone 9 plant, but the
leaves look like the photo in the NARGS
bulletin, so I'm not positive of its identify. The florist Cyclamen which are
C. persicum
will almost certainly succumb their first winter outdoors.
Best wishes for success.
Dot, where we hope desperately for rain, or snow, any precipitation.
