my catalog, along with the dwarf from of the plant, Fallopia japonica
var. compacta - The alternate name for this plant is Polygonum
  cuspidatum var. compactum.
this is an outstanding plant - it can take full sun, and grow 3-4' (not
the dwarf form) - the variegation is outstanding --- and the plant
really adds structure to any border - it's fascinating t watch it as it
emerges in springtime with pink spear-like shoots.

 Rika,

I surely hope that you are absolutely correct in that description. Perhaps
you were not with us a a few weeks ago when we went around with that plant.
There were many offerings resulting in acknowledged confusion of taxonomic
status (I cannot believe I said that). Am in agreement with everything you
have said and because I bought one and gave a good garden pal another one,
 please let it be true.

Thanks to all. I forgot to add the species name japonica. This one is much
different from the tovaras that we were discussing. I recommend it highly. I
grow it amongst hostas and it is a showpiece.

Rika, do you sell? Claire, where did you get yours?
How big will it get? When if at all should it be pruned? Would it properly be
described as a sub-shrub?
