Re: [SHADEGARDENS] Welcome

Hi, Sherryl,

Thanks for the note of welcome.

My garden is in a state of transition--which is to say I'm planning to
move from lovely Austin TX to the bleak western suburbs of Chicago, to
be closer to family. So I'm not sure how much shade I'll end up with. I
have plenty now and wish I'd found your list earlier.

Since you're into hostas, are you familiar with the work that one of the
Tyzniks (not Tony, for sure) is doing with tissue culture of hostas?

BTW, I'm a garden writer and I'm doing 2 chapters of a Rodale Press book
called 1001 Ingenious Garden Ideas, which requires that I gather about
170 short tips from gardeners. I'm doing two areas: tools (homemade,
recycled, whatever) and general garden care (watering, pruning, etc).
Would it be kosher for me to post a request for tips to the list?
Everyone whose tip is included gets a free copy of the book.

Let me know,

Erin Hynes
