This is for the Nova Scotia person. Gene Bush and Clyde Crockett made some
good suggestions. Easiest of all would be Asarum canadense--Canadian Wild
Ginger. It might be too invasive to plant other things WITH, is all. But
it is the most tolerant thing in my garden; it can be planted ANYWHERE and
needs no care once established. It does go dormant but leafs out
relatively early, and by the end of the summer the leaves are HUGE (huge
for a ginger). You will have a big, green, leafy mat. And of course the
flowers are interesting.
