Hi John,
Propagating Kerria:
I also found it on the property - lots of it! bought a 100 yr plus
Victorian house 10 yrs ago and saw this bright flower on the other
side of the brook - only way up in the overgrown woody area! I
remember sending my ex- climbing through the brambles to get one of
those coreopsis looking flowers to help me identify it! I have the
double form.
Now I now to just look for the green stems to recognize it.
Clumps fall apart quite easily, so just dig some up and pull off some
pieces. The first year I cut back what I have separated and let new
growth form. I have also seen that it sends off runners that form
clumps away from the mother plant....not far, just far enuf to do a
quite culling! Then again I have heard that you can do cuttings to in
late winter. Haven't needed to do that. My originals are sparse but
it has run over the past 50 yrs so it is easy for me to find a piece.
Have some nice clumps now where i want them. They happen to be near
a wet area, in full shade, but the originals are in dry land.
