I do apologize to Betty Barrows and the other subscribers for my caveat.  I
live in Idaho, where people are arrested or at least threatened with arrest
for taking plants from public lands.  I also subscribe to pacific nw
natives. a group that is extremely concerned with salvaging plants just
ahead of bulldozers (with permission) and asking if it's permissible to
take from road borrow pits or railroad rights of way.  Again, one has to
have permission.  I'm not familiar, obviously, with the state of things in
New York State.  I'm also a Master Gardenr and garden writer, but
