Re: Bloom time 7a.

Well, we aren't quite in 7a down here in southern Indiana, but I gather
that today we tied an 1880-something record in the heat department--60
degrees.

I envy Harry his camellias, but my Winter Honeysuckle is trying to bloom,
my hardy cyclamen should be in bloom (haven't checked), and if I cut some
branches of my Chinese Witch Hazel to force, they'll be blooming and
smelling marvelous in a few days. In fact, it will probably be blooming
outside if this keeps up. Meanwhile, italian arum and hellebores are
looking fresh and green. When I see them this time of year I always vow to
plant more.

Last year at this time we were trapped in the house for a week by a 10"
thick concoction made up of alternate thick layers of snow and ice, kind
of like a horrible parfait, and the temps were in the single digits. I
feel very thankful. This springlike weather may not last, but I'll
treasure it while it does!
