    If I may make a suggestion. pick up a wildflower guide for your State next
time you go to a bookstore. Take a look at the photos for the woodland plants
illustrated by color drawings or photos. you know what you like when you see it in
color or foliage, and since it is native to your area, no problems with hardiness.
Also they usually tell you what type of environment the plant prefers... such as
in seepage areas, rocky hillsides. etc. It will be the best investment you an make
on getting into shade gardening. They you can pick up perennial catalogs and visit
sites on the web, talk with all of us on the Listserv.
    My 2000 web site now has new photos up. There is a virtual garden tour in both
text and photos of plants growing in my garden here in Zone 6/5. All sections are
arranged separately so one does not have to open a catalog section unless they
choose.
