Not too keep this controversy going, but I must comment.
You are right, this area is for gardening, and as I see it, it stay very
pure. But let me share something. I have been developing my shade garden and
coming here for help in an effort to give me a place of peace and something
to care for as I battle a (so far fairly localized) type of breast cancer.
Hopefully, it will stay that way and I can be cured. If not, this shade
garden will be one of the greatest joys in my life. Just to sit in its peace
as I live out the rest of my days.
I agree that gardens are the subject, but we all have different reasons for
why we garden and what we grow. It's interesting that my reasons for this
garden are served very well by a post like that.

While I'm here, I wish I could thank each of you individually who took the
time to send so many suggestions for what I could consider planting in my
"Peace Garden".
I am anxious to finish my research and make my decisions about what to add
this spring. I'll know by then, too, what the progress this awful disease has
made, or if it has become benign.
