Cyathea cooperi. Hardy in zone 9 and 10. Will grow to 40 feet tall.
This is the most common tree fern available on a commercial scale.
You'll have to keep indoors of course. Occasionally, if you have any
specialty nurseries in the area that have any dedication to tropicals,
you can pick up a rooted peice of the fern. Very slow to get going.
From spore? If you are not middle aged, you might be rewarded. I've
had one for 2 years now and started with the rooted piece that I
purchased from Mr. Barfod at the Seattle Flower & Garden Show. It is
still under a foot tall and has 4 fronds on it.
