Re: [PRIMROSES] Australian Tree Fern


Just one problem, Polystichum setiferum is better called the soft shield
fern. It is native to Europe, and grows wild in England. It really isn't
Alaskan. It is hardy to zones 5 to 8, but grows much better on the west
coast and in England than it does in the mid-atlantic area of the states.
One thing it does though is to set bulbils along the rachis or stem. The
stem can either be pinned down, or the bulbils removed and planted on the
surface of soil to make new plants.
