For what it is worth, those of us who try for variegated seedlings try to
find a "streaky" where the variegation has gone all the way up the stem to
the seed pod. It does work. Almost all of the variegation from solid color
plants comes from mutations, and frankly, I'm much too old to wait..... A
very few plants are unstable enough to yield a fairly high percentage of
variegation.... Beatrice being one. Am not familiar with the Dorothy
Benedict hybrids......
