[SHADEGARDENS] Inbtroduction

Hi--I just joined the list and I guess I need all the help and education I can
get.

I have 2 homes to landscape:  our house outside Detroit and a cottage in
Ontario right on Lake Erie.  Both are beautiful properties and heavily treed,
which is great (we moved here from a place with no trees at all, so we love
it) but it makes gardening a challenge.  I'm particularly interested in
building a perennial garden with different plants that flower at different
times so that I always have lots of flowers.

And, I know next to nothing about gardening, so I'll be lurking for a while
and reading what you all have to say.
