Hello, Ken.  From what I understand from private posts, many people who
left the Robin did so not because of rules or free speech, but because they
were repulsed by a mob mentality having taken over, infecting even people
we used to think were a little 'classier' than that; a wide-eyed and
slack-jawed horde, running after one lone person with their tar and
feathers.  We can talk about hostas in our private groups...we don't need
to join the politickers to do it.  If YOU stay on the Robin, realize that
you may be the next to be humiliated...and now that there are rules, you
might be shunned or rejected as well.  Principle?  Too bad our generation
has so little.

Yes, it does.  We choose what we talk about.  Guess we must not be that
passionate about hostas if no one wants to discuss them.

I have never belonged to any chat group that has so many landed gentry...so
many acres to devour.

I had a person, an official in the AHS, harass me publicly and in private
mail...perhaps this person might decide to run me off the Robin.  Who would
stop her?  The rules are so vague as to make it possible for a member to
smear and eject another, based only upon who the review committee wants to
be pals with.  And the Robin, in its last outburst, proved that position,
popularity, etc. count for more than fairness.  Were you aware of the
slander, behind-the-scene gossip, phone calls, etc., that were going on at
that time...people getting each other worked into a frenzy over what...the
opportunity to be cruel to someone else?  It was so disgusting.  Many of us
decided we didn't want to hang out with people who were going to act that
way, or who thought it was ok for others to act that way.  We all have a
right to choose our friends.

I, for one, like this group.  It has rules, but they are a much better
delineated than the AHS Robin's.  Until I see differently, I will believe
that they will be impartially administered.  Other than this post, we DO
talk about gardening, not who's having lunch with who, etc.

If I have broken a rule by sending a non-gardening post, I hope everyone at
SHADEGARDENS understands that I did it to defend our group.  We are making
good friends here, and I'd hate to see us torn asunder.
