Sheila,
It does look like you describe. The leaves are a gray bluegreen color and it
looks like thick stocked grass. The racemes are as you describe and flowers
are like a 5 pointed star, has a nice fragrance also.
I started this from seed given to me by a friend that recommended it go in
well drained soil. That is why I was surprised by the Bog Asphodel name. :)
I have heard it called by the common name of Jacob's Rod. Mine is growing
well in a raised bed and full sun in summer with partial shade (afternoon
shade) in Spring and Fall. It takes it all in stride.
