Ran, you crank, how about a current plant list? Thanks. PS to Butch - if
you can, please fill my last order; if not, please send updated list.
Thanks. Would it be possible for our member nurserypeople to attach their
respective lists to our new home page - or is that too much? I don't know
enough about computers to figure it out for myself. If it can be done,
I'll volunteer to help with any data entry required.
Shishi: Bamboo update - The canes that sprouted last spring (including
some that had remained evergreen under the mulch all winter) are flopped
over, but the foliage is still green and healthy. Those that sprung up at
the end of the season are still quite straight, but the leaves are
dessicated or on their way there. I did not mulch this year, as opposed to
last winter's foot of straw.
Although we had much mild weather, we also had a week of almost non-stop,
cold and dry wind...then the ambient temperature got COLD. I am proud of
my baby's redoubtable tenacity, in spite of its needs being ignored. If it
ever blooms and dies, I will send you seeds - think what it would do in
your area. You will recall that this is Phyllostachys nigra, shade plant
being grown in full sun, and not supposed to be hardy in my zone. Now I
want you to tell me two things: do you think I can expect Moso to give a
like showing, and, if I CAN contain P. nigra, does planting small hostas
between the canes threaten it like it might a tree with its root zone
covered in little plants?
