With regard to fragrant hostas, there are many to choose from, but
make sure the first "frag" you buy is H. 'Fragrant Bouquet' a Paul Aden
introduction of 1982. It grows 20 to 24 inches in height and spreads up to
36 inches in diameter. The leaves are light green, having a yellowy-white
leaf edge. The florets are held nicely above the leaves, on tall scapes
and are funnel-shaped. Large white flowers and fragrant. A fairly rapid
grower and placing it in a position receiving morning sun, will give you
excellent results.
There are a great many fragrant hostas, but in my opinion, the one
I mentioned here, is the breeding breakthrough of our lifetime and the one
I like best. Summer Fragrance (the pollen parent of Frag Bouq) is my
second choice. It has white edged, darker green leaves; lavender fragrant
flowers and blooms earlier. Both of these produce fertile seeds.
WELCOME TO SHADEGARDENS and
if you get.. hope you enjoy :)
