Re: [SG] Welcome

Shade gardening is what I do most of the time as I live on the village square
in an old house with many mature trees lining my 203 by 49' yard which has an
el at the side 35 by 40". It's obvious I have to be selective about my
choice of plants. Daylilies and perennials that are in harmony are in my few
sunny patches, and hostas are occupying more and more of my light to deep
shade. As with most of us who garden, my grassy areas are getting smaller
each year!

As a master gardener, I write on Flowering Plants, once in a while do a
workshop on shade gardening, hostas, garden paths, etc. - and take my turn
on the phone answering basic garden questions. Organic gardening and IPM are
good guidelines for me - and I am willing to put up with the little critters
that live out there, hoping that the good bugs win.

That's pretty much my gardening life - I bought my first computer in
November after I tucked the garden to bed - there is a tremendous amount to
learn, most of which I have't mastered yet, but I have until the ground warms
up in '99.

Thank you for welcoming me to the shade gardening robin - I know I shall enjoy
all of it and when I feel I have something to contribute, I'll dive in.

Betty
