I have two Amorphophallus species that appear to survive quite well here
(Z7a) and even increase. However, they are in fairly bright partial shade.
I am not sure they would do well under the conditions you describe. They
like a well-drained, humusy soil. You could raise them as pot plants, or
treat the bulbs like Caladiums.
