As far as grasses go, I do not have that many - maybe twenty plants. And I
have to admit, most of them I do not even know the names of offhand (unlike my
hostas). THis is what I do remember (right now, the garden is under snow or I
would go check the markers):
several forms of miscanthis (morning light, zebra, and a couple more). these
are probably my favorite.
fountain grass that I grew from seed
Blue fescues (some of which I grew from seed)
Oat grass
a couple types of red grasses (small and large)
carex? (small, bright yellow, nice color)
ribbon grass (silver, very invasive) probably going to pull most of it out.
It reminds me of variegated crab grass.
and a couple of others. It certainly is nothing elaborate - simply something
I started doing last year to shade some of my hostas and add texture to the
garden - especially for the winter months when it needs it most.
My front yard does get enough sun to support the grasses, but not too much for
the hostas. I tend to use the grasses closer to the road where the shade from
the trees does not quite reach this also helps shade some of the hostas that I
have over there - so it works out well.
