Re: [SG] ornamental grasses, Carex

Hi Marge, Thanks for your neat post on carexes (and grasses). I'm saving
it, so may be back in touch about it later.

I bought my C. eburnea from Tony Avent (Plant Delights--a great nursery)
and it is like a little fairy plant--very fragile and dainty looking.
Don't know of any pix, but it looks like a clump of stiff bright green
hairs--that thin. It is the only US native carex Tony sells, which is why
I purchased it. (Haven't noticed whether he is still offering it in this
year's catalog, but if not maybe I can divide it next year and send you a
piece of it.) Alas, there are many native carexes, but they don't get much
respect in my experience.

I think I must order C. muskingumensis (sp?), which Clyde recommended. I
wonder who sells it. I'm also going to order some of the C. siderostica
varieties offered by Naylor Creek, including the one you mentioned. Where
IS Joe, by the way? Seems to me this species would resemble Liriope more
than hostas but they sound nice nonetheless.
