Sorry you had such a bad day, but loved your description of it. We're on the
east coast of Canada. 50 below wind chill one day and rain the next. My
hostas are under a blanket of leaves since there is no snow. It rains every
second storm and washes all the snow away. A couple of days ago, I emptied
some more bags of leaves on my first year perennials in hopes of protecting
them from these extreme freeze/thaw cycles. Spring will be quite an
adventure to see what survives. We've sent a fleet of Prince Edward Island
snow blowers and road crews to help you guys out. I hope you don't send any
major snow storms our way before they get back. Good luck on your drive in
the morning.
