Regarding Heuchera and Tiarella - beside the wonderful folks at Primrose
Path, Dan Heims of Terra nova Nurseries in Oregon has been in the forefront
of hybridizing these and has made some astonishing breakthroughs. Heuchera
'Chocolate Ruffles' was one of his first, still good, but actually
surpassed many times over in the last few years. His URL is
http//www.terranovanurseries.com
His is a wholesale nursery selling tissue cultured plugs, but he has a very
informative WEB site, with lots of pictures of the plants, including
Heucheras, tiarellas, and x heucherellas, even of some new plants on the
way but not in general production yet. He even has a list of retail mail
order suppliers. Go to his home page, then click on PLANTS. We have been to
see his trial beds many times, and there are really some great plants
coming along. 2 of my favorites today are Heuchera 'Can-can', 'Plum
Pudding', and 'Whirlwind' Now, they are working on bringing tall, showy,
very colorful dense flower spikes to the heucheras, perfect for the cut
flower market. And the Heucherellas are going to be winners.
And we will have lots of pictures of these plants on our WEB site as soon
as we get the picture pages up.
