Re: [SG] Landscape Design Programs

Monty,
There are several landscape design programs to buy. I have been using
one for over 5 years now. It is LandDesigner by Green Thumb software. It
was inexpensive; about $30. It does a good job once you learn how to use
it. I have been considering buying a newer program. There are several
available now that incorporate a photo either by digital camera or
scanner. You can actually take a photo & use in planning your landscape.
Dragging & dropping landscape material and hardscape allows you to see
how everything will look. I've seen this soft ware for around $40-50 at
Office Depot. On the other end of the scale there are professional
programs starating at about $400-500. All programs will give you a plant
list showing cost, source, size etc. (Of course, all of this information
you must enter first.)
Drawings are impressive when printed out on a color printer and
enlarged. I just finished one yesterday for a cottage garden job I'm
doing.
