I don't believe that I read anything about Kalmia, mountain laurel.  These are
evergreen that grow from dwarf to regular.  They come in different flower
colors...well sort of.  They are more drought resistant than rhodies.

Another evergreen is Ptersis(sp?).  For high overhead shade there's Tsuga or
hemlock.  More conifers cultivars than general known and not just green.  They
have yellow, yellow or tipped varies.

I think that Roslyn Nursery on LI carries both.

Think spring...it's just around the corner...please!
