Re: BLACK = Sweet potato vine habits

Joe, you and those in warmer climates could probably keep them in the
ground year round, but if you did that they might take over. I have them
in a pot that I bring indoors in the winter. By the time fall arrives, the
pot usually is filled with tubers. I just move the pot into the garage,
where it's warmer, and keep it there soil and all. Sometimes toss in a
little water but not too much. Sadly, I can never find homes for all those
tubers! Many just get pitched out. The problem is, you don't want a whole
yard filled with black foliage--or do you? But I have kept it growing for
several years.

Someone else asked about rooting cuttings in water, and yes, you can do
that too but there doesn't seem much need to bother, when spare tubers
keep appearing in the pot.

Do you plant your potato vine in a pot, or in the ground?
If you plant it in the ground, does it grow up again the following year?
Does it take over everything?
Is it hard to get rid of if you plant it in the ground??
