Hi Nancy and all,
I am Mass. zone 6.5 on the ocean with 'mood' swings each year.... last
winter being very harsh on plant material after the late late growing period
into Dec and then the freezing temps for 10 days while the plants had not
adjusted.
I lost my variegated lacecap to the ground. First time in about its 8th
year living here. I have had lack of bloom sometimes, but hey, I don't
particularly like the light blue flowers on the variegated foliage
anyway...so have gotten used to it as a nice foliage plant....
It is located south, and up against a granite wall. That might be good or
bad. <G>
So, I finally had to cut it to the ground and the first growth had me
nervous that it was going to revert back to green, but I am now safely
seeing 2-3 ft growth of variegation. Big empty hole thought for a long
time. I know another gardener friend who, in this area, was tired of the
finacky nature and ripped it out.
I have a harder time with doing that, as I love it!
