Have you looked at the roots? If they are rotting away-it might be do to
being two wet. Other problems might be some type of grub feeding on the
roots.
The plants are pretty drought tolerant once established but when they do dry
out the leaves will "burn" but not completely wilt away one at time.
If you are loosing one stem at a time I would look for something happening
under ground or at the soil line.
