Re: Another nursery

I live in Connecticut and have visited Variegated Foliage on several
occasions. If you are ever in the area, I would recommend stopping by
(however, it is well off the beaten path). The plants are fascinating and
the prices seem reasonable. He carries over 200 varieties of hostas (which
is why I was there) and I found same good bargains amongst them (a beautiful
Tattoo for $35 for instance - last year while everybody else was fetching $50
or more).

While the nursery and plants were fascinating, I get the impression the owner
(I think his name is Stan) is overwhelmed running the business i.e. he's
trying to answer three questions from three different people, his phone is
ringing, and he is trying to add up an order for another customer but he
can't find his calculator, etc. I couple of years ago there was a story in
the local paper on his nursery. According the story, he is not making any
money, it's more of a passion for him. I would have to agree with that based
on what I saw there.

Stan seems like a fascinating person - very knowledgeable and he runs around
the nursery faster than most people half his age. WHile I can't speak on
behalf, he seems very reasonable. I would try to contact him. Please be
patient. And those in the area should support his venture. One visit and
you will know why.
