Well, after 28 years my old coldframe melted away so my husband built a
new one last year. I need two but take what I can get. It is built of
pressure treated lumber 20 inches in the back and 12 ( I am guessing
about the height because we used standard lumber. The same piece of
fiberglass was recycled from the old coldframe. He built a frame for
the fiberglass and it is connected by hinges(they were rusted away and
had to get new ones). Mine sits next to a brick wall in a sheltered
area and many house plants(or tender tropical plants) can go in when
October comes. I put my little hostas, little ferns, and tender bulbs
etc in there. When I buy daffodils in the winter I put them in there to
keep the foliage growing after the blooms are gone. You can stack the
pots up to get more in the coldframe. I always have a project going on
and need to keep some plants safely over winter.
