Hank,
One thing you can try that won't get rid of the moles but will protect your
plants is to make small cages with small chicken wire around the roots of
your plants. This will protect the main roots from damage from the moles
tunneling. Another option is to add sharp gravel to the planting holes.
Both of these options have worked in my area for pocket gophers.
